Burkina Faso Inside the Puppet Masters Yard
2013, 76' et 52'
In Burkina Faso, the art of puppetry is relatively recent. As in most African countries, traditional puppets were present, then slowly disappeared. Now young puppeteers came back to this practice and brought a new strength to it. These artists and structures have few resources and work in family’s courtyards. So the construction of puppets and rehearsals take place in an environment which mix : kitchen, children, chickens, sheep, in a music and laughter atmosphere. Portrait of these artists grounded in their country’s daily.
